Hi World,
This is my first blog post ever and the first post of 2018.
Today I am sharing how I painted the Deputy Lawbot from the game “Rail Raiders Infinite” published by Ninja Division.
See this link for my tutorial: Deputy Lawbot
For the Deputy Lawbot, it was a fairly straight forward to paint job. The only difficult bit comes from the metallic skin. If you take your time and use thinned metallic paint it should not be a problem, just give it a few coats to make sure it’s even and it will look great. Once the skin is done everything else is just a base coat of color and some simple techniques to give the Deputy a “complete” look that will look great on the table.
Since it’s the first post I’ll add a little about myself and what Frugal Painter is:
I have been painting off and on for years with my main focus on painting miniatures. I have always enjoyed painting but I not only wanted but needed a way for me to keep with it on a consistent basis or I would end up buried under even more unfinished miniatures. We all know the next new shiny box is coming out soon and you have to have it, but it’s grey so you can’t play until you paint it, and then it sits there turning more grey as it’s slowly covered in dust.
Since it had been going on like that for far too long I wanted to make this part of my routine so I created the Frugal Painter. The main job of the frugal painter site is to share simple tutorials on the miniatures I paint. My goal is to make them easy to follow for anyone who has never painted, but also instructive for anyone who has painted before to maybe get a different perspective. I will try to keep the steps and unique paints to a minimum while also keeping the directions simple. This process may evolve over time as I do more and if I get any feedback on what others out there find helpful. I will always welcome feedback on ways to improve.
My tutorials will never be the only way to paint any of the miniatures I show and I wouldn’t want it to be. Never feel like the tutorials tell you to paint it an exact way. Paint it however you want, give it blue pants, a red hat, and a green vest if you want. Once you have finished painting be proud and show it off. Just don’t look back in the box too quickly and see there are 50 more miniatures to paint :-
For now I will be uploading a new tutorial once a week. As I get into the groove of creating them I should be able to do more. Check back on frugalpainter.com for more tutorials in the future.
If you have any questions or comments you can reach me at frugalpainter.com or you can email me at contact@frugalpainter.com.
Thank you and have fun painting!
